Tanzanian pro boxer Karim Mandonga floors Kenyan opponent Daniel Wanyonyi
Mandonga lives up to the hype by delivering a technical knock out in the fifth round of their 10-round Super Middleweight contest to his opponent Wanyonyi
Karim ‘Mtu Kazi’ Mandonga, the big talking Tanzanian boxer, lived up to expectations by defeating Kenya’s Daniel Wanyonyi.
Mandonga lived up to the hype by delivering a technical knock out in the fifth round of their 10-round Super Middleweight contest to his opponent Wanyonyi, in front of a packed crowd at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), in a highly-anticipated match.
Confident Mandonga commanded the ring with his showboating, while Wanyonyi appeared lackluster in comparison.Wanyonyi, who is known for his powerful punches and aggressive style, began the match slow, while Mandonga’s superior speed and persistence enabled him to dominate him throughout the match.
Mandonga proved to be too much for Wanyonyi to handle as he relentlessly turned him into a punching bag throughout the match. Wanyonyi ultimately gave up the match by refusing to return for the sixth round, resulting in a victory for Mandonga.
His victory was a significant achievement for him as it solidified his position as a top contender and potentially set the stage for a future title fight.
Mandonga stated in his post-match interview that having a loud and confident personality is important in boxing and he plans to return to the ring in April for another fight.
“Mdomo ni ya kupiga promo, nikiingia ulingo iko nafasi ya ngumi,” he said.
Mandonga talked tough and backed it up. He also expressed gratitude to Kenyans for their warm welcome and for their attendance at the match.
