Kenya’s number one rap group Wakadinali were recently interviewed by PDIDDY’s Revolt TV which has been making inroads in the region after partnering with What’s Good Studios.
The hip hop trio that is behind hits such as; Morio Anzenza, Clean Sheet, Extra Pressure, Mrenga, Moja Safi, Eastlando etc, spoke about their upbringing, musical influences, their style, life in the hood and whatnot.
Wakadinali revealed that their songs are inspired by what they see around them in the hood and that is what sets them apart from the rest.
“There are many things that happen where we live. There are many situations that can get you in trouble. Our hip hop style is mainly for the people. We do it to communicate with the people,” Sewersydaa explained.
They also revealed that it doesn’t really bother them that their music does not have a huge audience because they derive success from what they see, it’s personal for them.
“It’s all about self-awareness. If you are aware of who you are, your capabilities and where you are going. That is what makes you, not going with the trends,” Domani added.
Wakadinali also paid homage to legendary producer Tedd Josiah who had compared them to Kalamashaka in an earlier interview.
