Harambee Starlets claimed their maiden CECAFA championships crown on Monday after edging out Tanzania 2-0 at the Chamazi Stadium, Dar es Saalam
Jentrix Shikangwa was the star of the show as she came off the bench to net twice, first from the spot after Minja’s handball in the box 20 minutes from time and in the 88th minute claiming the Golden Boot.
It was a huge comeback for Starlets, who were eliminated by Zambia in the fourth round of the 2020 Olympic qualifiers.
Harambee Starlets claimed the regional title on an unbeaten record and without conceding a single goal throughout the competition.
On Sunday, Harambee Starlets were nominated in the Women National team of the year category of the 2019 CAF Awards,While coach David Ouma was shortlisted in the Women’s coach of the year category of the annual awards, whose ceremony will be held on January 7, 2020, at Citadel Azure, Hurghada, Egypt.
